Steve & Paige Peterson Project

This 40' x 96' x 18' Lester Uni-II Building is very unique. 74' of this building is used for a basketball / volleyball court and the remaining 24' of this building is a two story recreation / game room area with the second story used as a movie theater. The building is used primarily for the youth in the Oakland area and on occasion a wedding rehearsal supper, wedding and baby showers. The first event held in this facility was the 2007 Oakland-Craig Post-Prom.



Peterson Concrete
This photo shows the completed concrete for the project. The basket ball court concrete is colored Mocha Brown, that area is 36 x 72. The 2' perimeter ribbon around the court is colored Sonoran Tan. The game room area concrete is 24' x 40' and is colored Sonoran Tan and has a Walnut colr release agent. The game room has a 36" x 36" Slate pattern throughout the floor. The exterior concrete under the porch of the building and the fire pit patio area is colored Sonoran Tan with a Walnut release. The pattern impression on the exterior conrete is Orchard Stone. The building is heated by using radiant floor heat under the concrete.
 
Construction of Building
This Lester Uni-II Building is 40' x 96' x 18' with raised lower truss chords. The interior of the building is insulated using a Thermal Design Simple Saver Insulation Package. The ceiling has an R-30 insulation package and the walls have a R-19 insulation. The gym has 8-4' x 6' thermal pane / impact resistant windows located 15' off the gym floor. The partition wall separating the gym from the game room has 1-5' x 10' impact resistant window located at ground level and 2- 4' x 6' windows located in the theater room of the building 15' off the gym floor. The walls of the gym are lined 8' high with a 3/4" fiberglass reinforced paneling. The endwalls of the gym are completely lined with the same product. The game/rec room area of the building has a mechanical room, restroom and a open kitchen area. The second story of this structure is a movie theater.
 
Completed Project

This is the completed basketball / volleyball court complete with regulation baskets and volleyball standards. The basketball court has abbreviated lines, but the volleyball court is regulation size. There is a 12' x 14' overhead door on one endwall to allow access into the gym for unloading larger items for events. The lower game/ rec room has a 50" and a 37" plasma televisions for video games and watching high definition satellite television. There is a uni-sex restroom and mechanical room which houses the floor heat manifold and boiler,video surveilance equiment, stereo equipment, water softener and washer & dryer. There is a kitchen / wet bar area that includes an oven, sink, microwave and a side by side refrigerator. The rounded counter top and backsplash are granite and there are several cupboards for storage. The stairway leading to the theater has recessed lights in the stair treads to help you when there is a movie in progress. The theater ceiling and walls are painted black with a suspended ceiling grid holding up 36 fiber-optic panels to give you an effect of watching a movie or television under the stars. The movie screen is approximately 65" tall x 108" wide and with the high definition projection camera and surround sound it makes watching a movie very enjoyable. The two window in the theater let you follow the action in the gymnasium.
